A design technique in the form of a playful exchange was tested and used as creative energy. Letters were exchanged in a dialogical back and forth. Behind each letter were imaginary words that determined the design of the letters. The aim was for the recipient to guess the imaginary word and design the next letter of the assumed word. Misunderstandings and false assumptions resulted in unexpected turns of phrase and sometimes new words. The assumed words behind the letters are printed as patterns on the inside of the Japanese binding.
